Bees - Second Saturday Series at Foothills Learning Center

  • 09/13/2014
  • 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center
The Foothills Learning Center has its very own observation bee hive that allows you to get up close and personal with our resident honey bees, Apis mellifera.
  • We’ll welcome back Matt Schmasow, one of our GK-12 Fellows from 2011-2012. Matt will share his extensive knowledge about bees and other colony insects in an engaging presentation where he’ll also “transform” someone into a bee!
  • Join Mary Jane Oresik and other members of the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club for a day full of bee-related activities in our new bee yard. Help spin out frames of honey, make lip balm, healing bee salves and candles, and maybe even taste a bit of honey from the FLC hive! The club will have experienced beekeepers on hand to answer any questions about keeping bees.
  • Visit our beautiful new bee garden and learn how to support pollinators in your gardens.

Free, family friendly, drop in/no pre-registration needed

Please – no pets
