The Buzz on Honeybees

  • 09/09/2015
  • 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
  • Foothills Learning Center
Hosted by the Foothills Learning Center - Monthly Adult Education Series

Join Steve Sweet, Treasurer Valley Beekeepers Club (TVBC) member, for a look back in time before humans discovered the value and harnessed the energy of these important pollinators. Learn how honey bees became domesticated. We move on to the present day and address the serious decline in bee populations, exploring why this is happening and how these losses could impact us all in the future.

Steve has been an active hobbyist beekeeper in the Treasure Valley since 1983. He began his formal beekeeping training as both a student and a work-study employee at the UC, Davis, Bee Biology Laboratory in the 1970’s. He is certified as an Apprentice under the Oregon State Master Beekeeping Program and is actively working toward completion of the Journeyman level requirements.

After Steve’s talk, TVBC members will be on hand to give tours of our three different hives.

No pre-registration.  Please no pets.
