Join our community partner, Golden Eagle Audubon Society for Bird Walking at Barber Park.
WHEN: Sunday, June 7th from 9:00am - 11:00am. Check-in is at 8:50 am. Please arrive at check-in so we can start on time.
WHAT: Join Golden Eagle Audubon for a relaxed morning of exploration of the trails at Barber Park, where the Boise River winds through groves of cottonwoods, willows, and riparian wetlands. Barber Park is a county park on the east edge of Boise, and is home to over 120 bird species throughout the year. The river is prime habitat for waterfowl, kingfisher, and herons, while the surrounding trees along the banks may hold woodpeckers, warblers, kingfishers, chickadees, flycatchers, sparrows, and owls. This will be a leisurely outing with plenty of time to stop, listen, and watch. Expect level walking on paved or packed paths, with opportunities to enjoy both birds and the beautiful riverside scenery that makes Barber Park a local favorite.
Birding Skill Level: All levels are welcome. Binoculars will be available to borrow if needed.
Age: Participants younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the liability release.
Meeting place: We will meet at Barber Park in the main parking lot near the restrooms.
What to Bring: Layers for weather, sun protection, binoculars, closed-to shoes, water, and snacks as needed. No dogs please.
Restroom Availability: Restrooms are available at the parking lot.
Inclement Weather: If there is an unhealthy AQI, steady precipitation forecast, or the trails are not suitable for ethical passage, the trip may be cancelled.
Contact Information: Please text trip leader Shanann at 208-284-3554 with any questions.
